I mean, not that my happiness rests with material objects. It's just that I'm really thrilled to have these and I can't stop looking at them. Plus I'm so glad to have something new to spend my money on. The thing about records is that, well, they're really awesome. I love the shiny black platter. I love the big square sleeve with the colors popping out at you. I love the intimacy of dropping a needle instead of double clicking a mouse. I love the scratches and pops and the warmth of it all.Now I'm gonna have to get me a record player.
Mmmmmm ... records. Yes, people - he's correct. They are "records", not "vinyl". This post takes me back to 11 years old, hanging out with my sister at our mutual best friend Rebecca's house, her bright yellow Holly Hobby record player plugged in on the front porch, the three of us playing in the street and singing along to a 45 of Sloop John B and You're So Good to Me (How come you a-a-are? Sha na na na na na na na na na na na na You're my baby, oh yeah. You're me behbeh ... okay I'll stop now).
